Knowledge Staff Review:
The Real Taste of Jamaica by Enid Donaldson takes food lovers into Jamaican homes, kitchens, and restaurants to sample the full range of native cuisine. Four years and five reprints later, this new and revised edition contains additional material on traditional Jamaican cuisine and regional variations to dishes that round out the flavor of this amazing and original book.
What a great book about some of the most delicious food that ever came out of Jamaica. As a Jamaican this book is invaluable as a source of reference. The author writes the book in a free flowing conversational style, which makes the recipes easy to follow and understand. One of the best things about this wonderful book is that you can learn a bit about the history of the food as well. I would be remiss if I did not mention the beautiful, mouth-watering photographs that illustrate this book. Ray Chen, well-known Jamaican-Canadian food photographer, does an exquisite job capturing these tasty dishes in full page and full colour.
The Real Taste of Jamaica is a keeper and one that I NEVER loan to anyone.
